Hi all,

I would like to retrieve a specific Google sheet. Its name is stored on a Airtable Field….

I have the following message “Zapier had trouble retrieving custom fields from Google Sheets”.

 

What can i do ?

 

One more precision.

It works when i retreive manually the Spreadshit with the same id.

 

 

Hi @Ouilok!

 

If you use a Custom Value for the Worksheet or Workbook in a Google Sheets step, you’ll see the “Zapier had trouble retrieving custom fields from Google Sheets” error. This is a limitation of the Google Sheets integration, sorry about that!

 

The good news is that there is a way to workaround this!

  1. In the editor, use the dropdown list to select the sheet that you want to use (or any sheet that has the same column headers)
  2. Add any information into the fields that you need
  3. Change the Worksheet/Workbook to your custom value

 

The Zap will give you an error message saying that there are extra fields in the Zap:

 

In this case, that’s ok - it’s the fields that we added before changing the sheet.

 

When you test the Zap and turn it on, it should work without an issue 🙂

 

 

I am facing the same problem. I tried and ignored the “Remove these extra fields” message, but after that, either test or real input didn’t work. Any other fix?

I’m having the exact same issue. And I’ve created zaps to Google Sheets tons of times without any issue… super frustrating.

I’m facing the same issue, Yesterday it was working fine, But today is not. Please help.

Is there any changes from Zapier? Or I am missing something.

 

Hi there,

I have the same problem. I dont use custom value. I just want to add a new spreadsheet row when a new facebook lead came in. In the past it worked pretty well. I tried to follow the steps for the workaround but I have no option of custom values or something.

How I can I fix it not knowing what a custom value actually is and dont want to use it.
