Question

Why can't I edit an Excel sheet but still use Zapier to add rows?

With Google Sheets I could pump data into a "database" table in a “database” sheet, and then in other sheets run analytics on that data.

With excel, if I have the excel file open, then zapier cannot access it at all. This means that zapier is completely useless with excel - if all I can do is create a database that cannot be used, well, then it’s useless.

How do you work around this? I need to be able to work on other sheets in my excel workbook while zapier is pumping in data.

Thanks

Hi @rwood_ryan

Good question.

I haven’t heard about this limitation before with Excel.

Make sure that the worksheets being used in the Zap aren’t locked or hidden.
