Team Name field missing from Asana task data

I am trying to pull data into a Google Sheet whenever a task is completed, but I cannot find the Team field...I have the task name, the project name, but I need the Asana Team name because that is the Client’s name. I need all of this data in my spreadsheet, but the task data that Zapier is pulling in doesn’t seem to include the Team.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

Hi @AWB Firm

You may have to trace the data to derive the Team Name by using a Find Project step in the Zap.

Else, you may have to use the Asana API: https://developers.asana.com/docs

App APIs can be used in Zaps with the Webhooks app as an action step: https://zapier.com/apps/webhook/help

I tried a Find Project step and received an error message:

So I’m not sure how to find the project and get the team name (which is our client name). I don’t know much about using the Asana API, but I guess I will follow your link and see if I can figure it out.

Hi @AWB Firm

Please post screenshots with how your Zap steps are configured.

I emailed Zapier directly about this and they told me that there is a “known issue” with Asana projects and basically, there isn’t a way to fix this right now. I’m actually trying to revise my Zaps right now in order to minimize the steps involved.

@AWB Firm

Alternative is to use the Asana API to Find Projects: https://developers.asana.com/docs/get-multiple-projects

App APIs can be used in Zaps with the Webhooks app as an action step: https://zapier.com/apps/webhook/help

Hey @AWB Firm I just wanted to follow up here to post the reply from support for anyone else following along:

It looks you've been affected by a known issue with the Asana integration, where we're having trouble loading search results.

The good news is that both teams are aware of this issue, and we're also tracking users being affected by this. This being the case, I have added you as an affected user to this issue. This helps to raise the priority of the issue and makes it more likely that we can get this one sorted out more quickly. While I can't provide an ETA on when this will be fixed we'll send you an email so that you'll be in the loop as soon as a fix is released!
