simpro and dext integration for entering purchases

Can anyone help regarding integrating Dext and Simpro and setting up workflows?

 

We currently manually enter and receipt all our supplier purchases orders. On the chat last week, the Zapier rep advised that i can use Zapier to do this but i cant work out the workflow and chat is currently offline.

It keeps trying to "create a quote". But i need it to “create a material order” within a project.

Maybe its doing what i want but using different wording?

Google steps to do this do not correlate with the steps to take on Zapier either.

 

Workflow would be

Email to Dext > code project in Dext> export to simpro >find project>find/create supplier>apply to cost code within project> save (or there abouts, there may be other steps but im new to this program).

Here are all the triggers/actions for Simpro in Zapier- https://zapier.com/apps/simpro/integrations

It keeps creating a quote because Zapier Simpro integration doesn’t expose Create a material order action. But there is a workaround by querying the API directly using Webhooks in Zapier. See more about the /api/v1.0/companies/{companyID}/vendorOrders/ endpoint here- https://developer.simprogroup.com/apidoc/?page=1ce5d9607216ee37fb61fe793d38e2c3#tag/Vendor-Orders/operation/8d6d1380b85065b784d2ce0dfe9fd2b3. Your sample workflow will look something like this-

  • New Processed Receipt notification trigger
  • Find job action
  • Find or Create Company Customer action
  • Webhooks in Zapier action

This is a sample workflow and you may need to add extra actions like Filter, Formatter etc as workflows are usually personalized to user’s needs. I know it can get a bit more technical and complex but if it’s important for you, you can give this approach a try. Hope it helps!
