Hi all -

I am writing a Zap to connect Sharpspring and WhatConverts.

The aim is that when a lead is *updated* in Sharpspring, the Zap will check a few key fields and update that same lead in WhatConverts. The original leads are sent the other way - WhatCoverts writes them into Sharpspring via a Zap.

The only trigger I can find that seems in any way suitable is

---------------------------------------

New Lead

When a lead has been created in sharpspring.

But I don’t want to do anything when a lead is created, only when an agent updates it in Sharpspring.

Is that actually possible?

Any help gratefully recieved! Jon

Hi @JonH

Try asking SharpSpring Support if there are webhook events for updated lead that you can configure in SharpSpring.

If yes, then use this Zap trigger: Webhook - Catch Hook

This will generate a unique webhook URL to use in SharpSpring.

Hi @JonH 👋

There’s an existing feature request for the ability to trigger on updated leads so I’ve gone ahead and added your vote for that new trigger. While I can’t guarantee if or when this will be added, we’ll be sure to notify you via email once it becomes available!

In the meantime, did you have any luck with Troy’s suggestion of using a Webhooks Catch Hook trigger to run a Zap whenever Sharpspring sends over details of an updated lead?

Keen to ensure you’re all set here so let us know if you’re still stuck at all and we’ll be happy to help further! 🙂

Hi @SamB ,

No - unfortunately Sharpspring does not fire anything if a lead is updated in many situations: for example they *will* fire a webhook if the lead status changes to ‘qualified’, but any further changes (especially to any custom fields - which our client uses quit a lot of!) will do nothing. The agent would have to update the lead, then change it back to ‘unqualified’ and save it and then change it to ‘qualified’ again. They will never remember to do that consistently, so any data would be very inaccurate.

We are currently investigating if we can somehow automate a weekly report from Sharpspring that contains the data we need which could be put into a Google Sheet and we could work with it from there.

That is a bit clunky as it would have to contain all of the records that had anything in the specified fields, so we might end up re-updating records that had not changed since last time but that wouldn’t matter too much.

Jon
