Hi, I'm trying to send an image from this zap to Notion. Am I right in thinking you can't use Zapier to send images/attachments to a notion database? Thanks

Hi @zsection

Can you show screenshots of how your Notion step is currently configured in the Zap?

Are you trying to send the link to the image/attachment or the image/attachment object itself?

Check out this help article: https://zapier.com/help/create/basics/send-files-in-zaps

Hi @Troy Tessalone, here’s a screenshot: https://cln.sh/VdCyOB . I’m pretty confident i’ve got everything set up correctly because I’ve used the exact same set up for Airtable and it works fine. The image i’m trying to get into Notion looks like this: https://cln.sh/PXnKx9

Have you tried/managed to get an image or file into Notion? I’ve got a feeling it’s just not possible at the moment. Thanks

@zsection

Is the image/attachment file publicly accessible?

You can test this by copying/pasting the URL into a private browser to see if it renders/downloads.

For this example, the URL field has a website domain (Hostname), rather than a link to an image file (Thumbnail URL).

That doesn’t seem right.

@Troy Tessalone hi yes it does - this is the URL https://www.trove.so/social.png

@zsection

Do you have the correct data point mapped to the URL field in the Notion Zap action step?

The screenshot shows Hostname as the data point, but perhaps it should be the Thumbnail URLdata point that is mapped to the URL field.

@Troy Tessalone no the field doesn’t show up from Notion. I tested the same process with Airtable and everything works fine.

That’s why I’d love confirmation from someone as to whether they have managed to get images into a Notion database via Zapier. I have a feeling it’s not currently possible.

@zsection

Did you try clicking the Refresh Fields] button at the bottom of the Notion step in the Zap?

@Troy Tessalone :P yes. Could you please let me know if you have successfully managed to get files into a Notion database via Zapier?

@zsection

Looks like you might have to use the Notion API: https://developers.notion.com/reference/database#database-property
App APIs can use be used in Zaps with the Webhooks action step: https://zapier.com/apps/webhook/integrations#triggers-and-actions

@zsection

Found this online:

The Notion API currently does not support file uploads or downloads (Notion-Version: 2021-05-13).

@Troy Tessalone ah there we go, thought that might be the case - just wanted confirmation,. Thanks for looking into it.
