Send an ephemeral message in Slack when a user posts a message to a channel.

Our desired Zap:

1. An unauthorized user posts in a channel.
2. An ephemeral message is sent to the user.

Context:

We have a slack channel which is only used for product updates. However, many users ask support questions in this channel and we want to direct them to the correct support channel. I’ve made a zap where when an unauthorized user posts a message to the channel an automated bot sends a message with the correct channel to go to. However, the bot message is sent to the whole channel and we’d like it to be sent as an ephemeral message that only the user who posted the message can see. I don’t see an action for sending an ephemeral message to the user and did not know if it was possible in a workaround. I know posting ephemeral messages is possible using Slack’s API but is there a way to incorporate this into Zapier?

Hi @snaq123

Good question.

You can try using the AI assistant in this Zap action: Slack - App Extensions
