Hello Zapier community,

I am trying to automatically send a direct message when a new user joins a Slack workspace. It seems that Zapier support or supported it but the help page returns a 500 error https://zapier.com/apps/slack/integrations/slack/9558/send-a-new-slack-member-a-message

Am I missing something?

I can see how Slack may have decided that Zapier is taking business from them as it’s possible to do this natively in Slack https://slack.com/intl/en-mx/slack-tips/automatically-onboard-new-channel-members

Hi @SylvainKA

It’s definitely possible using the “New User” trigger and the “Send Direct Message” action step in Zapier:

Not sure what that 500 error is about. I’ve let the Zapier team know.

Hey @SylvainKA

Thanks for letting us know about that 500 error here! We’ve investigated this and it appears to be caused by the Zap template using the old legacy version of the “New User” trigger which is no longer available. To help avoid any confusion, we’ve unpublished that Zap template and once the cache has cleared it should no longer be listed.

In the meantime, it should be possible to use the new version of the “New User” trigger  and “Send Direct Message” action that Troy mentioned. Please do let us know how you get on with setting that up! :)
