Questions on updating events in Google Calendar

Hi, new to zapier and had a few question about a flow where I update an event in google calendar after a new/updated row in Google sheets. Note, I have the eventIDs in my spreadsheet so I’m not planning to use the ‘Search’ action.

  1. What happens if my EventID column is blank? Does it create a new event as mapped or does it produce an error and skips that row?
  2. I have my ‘New or Updated Spreadsheet Row in Google Sheets’ trigger set to only trigger when there’s a change in a specific column. Is this only for updates to existing rows? My understanding from the guides is that any new row, regardless if there’s a value in my specified column will trigger it.

Hi @shk

Good question.

What happens if my EventID column is blank? Does it create a new event as mapped or does it produce an error and skips that row?

In Zap action steps, required fields or conditionally required fields will expect a value be populated, else the Zap step will fail.

Correct.

New rows will trigger the Zap.

Updated rows will trigger the Zap for all rows or for updates to the specified column.
