Hello - I am very much teaching myself as I go along so thank you for you patience if I describe any of this badly!

I use Thinkific for (among other things) free lead magnets.

Each lead magnet is aimed at different types of customer, so I would like each new lead to be placed into the correct audience in Mailchimp.

How do I set up a zap that picks up a lead and know that because it’s the lead from a particular magnet, it goes to a particular Mailchimp Audience?

For example:

Lead Magnet A is aimed at Managing Directors, so I would like the leads from this to go into a Managing Director Audience with a suitable email sequence.

Lead Magnet B is aimed at HR managers on a totally different topic, so the leads from this would need to go into Mailchimp in a Topic Audience with its own email sequence.

How can I route a ‘New Lead’ to its correct MailChimp audience?

Thank you!

You’d use “Paths” assuming that the source of the lead magnet is in the same field every time. For example, “source”. And then that would say either lead magnet A, B, or C. And if it’s not in a single field coming directly from Thinkific, you’ll have to check and see what other fields are available from the trigger in order to set up the path conditions.

As a bonus suggestion, not only am I a certified Zapier Solutions Partner, but I’m also a MailChimp Pro Partner, and you really don’t want to be managing multiple audiences. The better scenario 95% of the time is to have one audience and manage the different personas (Directors, HR, etc.) using different tags, groups, merge fields, or some combination of all of those.

Hi @Waddies

Info about Filters and Paths:

Thank you very much for replying so quickly with helpful information! It’s really appreciated.

Hi @Waddies,

We just wanted to see how everything is going with your Zap. Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance with your Zap. We're glad to address any concerns and assist you.

We're looking forward to your response.

Yes, this is definitely possible with Zapier! You can set up a Zap that triggers when someone signs up through a Thinkific lead magnet, and then use a Filter or Paths in Zapier to check which lead magnet it is. Based on that, you can route the lead to the correct Mailchimp audience or tag.

For example:

  • If the course/title equals "Lead Magnet A," send to your “Managing Director” audience.

  • If it’s "Lead Magnet B," send to your “HR Audience.”

Just make sure each lead magnet is distinguishable (like by course name), and Zapier can handle the routing. Let me know if you'd like help setting up the filters!
