I’ve never used zapier before so I’m looking for any help, direction, or guidance to get started. I am trying to transition our email and audience list from MailChimp to Neon.
Currently I create and send the newsletters in Mailchimp. We also generate a list of subscribers and inquiries from gravity forms on our website. So we would need to transition those from Mailchimp to NEON in our WordPress.
I have the following instructions: Gravity forms is the form builder. They have a plugin integration where gravity forms can 'push' information into Mailchimp. there is not a standard gravity forms plugin to make that connection work with Neon. Therefore, (like you recommended) using Zapier is the best option other than doing custom programming on our end. The "Get Informed about Mission Trips & More" newsletter subscription on the home page would be easy... just replace it with a neon embedded form. HOWEVER, like you said, the trip inquiry form has a newsletter signup on it. The trip inquiry form is intricately integrated into the backoffice of missionguide so we can't just replace that form with a neon form, like you mentioned. So we would need to use the Zapier integration, which Gravity Forms has a standard integration with.
The api is already set up and I made the gravity forms app connection on zapier to my site. So now, I just need to create a "zap" on zapier to handle this
NOTE: Depending on your logic, there may need to be more/different steps.
Hey @Cabroek,
Do you want to transfer historical data as well or just new data? Zapier is best suited polling for new data rather than data migration but they are some workarounds that can make it possible to migrate the data. You will have to probably a third party database like Google Sheets by exporting the data from Mailchimp. Then you can use that to send that data to Neon as it will be treated as new data for google sheets. Be careful about flood protection limits depending on the amount of data. See more about it here-https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/14230420160269-Choose-your-Zaps-flood-protection-limit For new data it will be easier and your workflow will look something like this-
@Troy Tessalone @Sparsh from Automation Jinn Thank you for the initial direction. I reached out to my project manager for more context and this was the response:
I am able to extract and download the current/historical subscriber list from Mailchimp as a csv and then clean it up and add it to Neon as an email audience. I can do that easily.
1. What we need going forward is all new subscribers from a newsletter signup link on the main website (which can be embedded from NEON). They will be added to my email list in NEON for sending newsletters starting now for the one in October.
2. The Zappier could hopefully add the subscribers from the inquiry form to the list in NEON. (They check a box on the form to subscribe. It is a gravity form). Would that work or will we need a storage space for those inquiry subscribers as opposed to the signup on the website?
Can the Zap add those to a email list in Neon? I have one set up for that.
Hope that makes sense. We have 2 email lists coming from two sources that need to either be brought together in NEON like they were in Mailchimp or I can send the newsletter to two email lists manually.
I have 2 email lists setup in NEON if they are needed. I can add the historical mailchimp list. I need the new ones from the inquiry forms added with the Zappier.
Let me know if you need any clarification.
Hey @Cabroek,
Yeah it’s possible to have both of these email list synced to Neon. I think Neon embedded form will take care of the sync itself to Neon. For Gravity as mentioned in previous replies as well you can make a Zap. The workflow will look something like this-
This is a sample flow and exact complexity depend on your needs as workflows are personalized. Hope it helps!
