I’m looking for an automation recipe that does the following:

TRIGGER: New image file inside Google Drive folder

AUTOMATIONS: 1) Run OCR on image, 2) Extract text from image, 3) Paste that extracted text into the image’s description area in Google Drive.

Good question.

There are some Zap apps that do OCR: https://zapier.com/apps

GDrive can do OCR for an image but that’s an advanced approach.

 

To update a GDrive File description, you’d likely have to use this Zap action: GDrive - API Request
