Hello there,

Is there a way to trigger Slack message ONLY when a field in the Google sheet is updated to a specific value?

I’m using Google Form as my ticketing/requests system. It will then create entries in the Google sheet. I want to trigger notification to my team when a request is Completed, ie. the Status is Competed. So, they know their request has been completed.

There’s only “New or Updated Spreadsheet Row” in the Trigger Event available to me. It triggers too many notifications that I don’t want. Anyway to fix it?

Thank you

Teresa

Hi @teresa

Check out this help article:

“New or Updated Spreadsheet Row” trigger behavior

If you’re using the New or Updated Spreadsheet Row trigger and choose Any column to monitor, any change to a row will trigger your Zap. If you select a specific column, then the Zap will only trigger when there are changes on that column.

Note

Zaps using New or Updated Spreadsheet Row will also trigger for any new rows in the spreadsheet, even if the specified column is blank. To avoid triggering in those cases, add a Filter step to your Zap.

Alternative is to use Airtable: https://zapier.com/apps/airtable/integrations#triggers-and-actions

Airtable Zap app has a trigger for New Record in View.

Airtable has Views: https://support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/202624989-Guide-to-views

Airtable has Forms: https://support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/206058268-Guide-to-using-the-form-view

Hey,

You should user below trigger

Than add a step of Filter. Filter will execute the Zap further, only when the filter condition is matched.
