How to sync existing starred Gmail emails to Notion using Zapier

Hi,

I have a zap set up for gmail to notion in which new starred emails go into a notion database. However, it only applies to new emails. How can have it apply to all the existing starred emails (there aren’t more than 40). Is there a way to brute force it in the testing steps? Per chatgpt, it says these triggers only apply to new emails that are then starred and it suggests a few work arounds.

But I want to know if there is a way to do it within zapier itself and if anybody has found a workaround to this.

Thank you!

Hi @dduel,

Welcome to the Community.

Zapier's Gmail to Notion integration typically triggers only for new starred emails and doesn't support backfilling starred emails. As a workaround, you can create a new Gmail label (for example, "To Notion"), apply it to the desired emails, and set up a Zap triggered by the labeled emails. This method lets you send existing and future labeled emails to your Notion database.

Please try it and let us know if you have any issues. We're here to help!

Thank you for your reply and help. But during the testing the zap process, is there a way to select all the starred mails or no?

Hi @dduel,

Zapier is unable to select all starred emails in Gmail during testing. When setting up a Gmail trigger like "New Starred Email," Zapier only pulls the most recent starred email. To act on all currently starred emails, you would need to manually trigger the Zap for each. Zapier operates on a trigger-action basis, processing new data after the Zap is turned on.
