To set up a Zap that sends an email reminder based on a Google Sheet date, first, use Google Sheets as the trigger with "New or Updated Spreadsheet Row." Then, add a "Delay Until" action using Zapier's Delay app, selecting the column with follow-up dates. Finally, an email action (Gmail or Outlook) should be set up to send a reminder at the specified time. Test the Zap and turn it on to activate the automation.

Try this instead…

Use Airtable.

Airtable has field types. (e.g. Date, Dropdown, Checkbox, etc.)

Airtable has native Automations that can be configured when fields meet conditions. (e.g. Date = Today)

Airtable Automations have a native integration with Gmail.
