Hi @David R,
Welcome to the Community.
You're trying to retrieve a Dropbox folder link associated with a Salesforce record and store it in a custom field. To do this, create a custom field on the relevant Salesforce object and consider using the Salesforce API to access data that isn't visible in the UI. In Zapier, if the folder path is predictable, you can use Salesforce's 'Find Record' or 'Get Record' actions to access custom fields and Dropbox's 'Find Folder' action. This setup may require help from a developer due to its complexity and possible API involvement.
I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Hey Jammer,
Thanks. Understood but need to be clear. I have made most of this work but I have only ONE last issue. The folder Salesforce Documents being read by Zapier is not seeing any NEW files created. It finds old ones ( my only thought is maybe we switched to Business Account at some point, yet I am unsure ). The new files show correctly in both Salesforce and Dropbox. They are also in the RECENT folder in Dropbox. If I were able to get these read ( even zapier Search does not return the file name when testing but it finds other older files ) I would be done with this complex workflow. Any thoughts?
I have zapier seeing the correct folder. The test pulls only older files from the Salesforce Documents/Carpets folder and does not see anything new when triggered. There are less than 3000 sub folders in this Carpet Folder. Dropbox shows the new created folder just fine. Zapier does not see it or trigger from it. Everything else works perfect and the test record from folder does exactly as expected. Need to clear this last hurdle or whole project falls apart. :-) thanks
Hi @David R,
Thanks for your detailed explanation and patience. The issue may be related to the timing between when files are added to the Salesforce Documents/Carpets folder and when Zapier checks for new files. While Zapier typically detects new files based on the last run time, it's unusual that only older files are picked up. This could point to a syncing issue. Try checking your sync settings, reconnecting Dropbox to Zapier, or recreating the Zap to see if the problem resolves.
If none of these steps work, I recommend contacting Zapier Support directly. They have access to more detailed logs and can provide further assistance.
Thanks for the answers. Turns out there were 8500 folders in the watched folder so I have moved 600 of them out and it works. Please just lmk how I then tell it to put a new folder inside of the one that created the trigger the step before as it does not appear to be an option? Thanks again.
Hi @David R,
I'm glad you resolved the initial issue with the watched folder. To create a new folder inside the one that triggered a previous step, you can use the "Create Folder" action in your file storage app and insert the triggered folder’s path or name. If that’s not available, a workaround might be needed.
