How to create summarized Jira summary from Slack message?

Current Zap configuration:

  1. In Slack, when a user adds an emoji Reaction to a Slack message >
  2. a Jira ticket is created.

Currently, the Jira ticket Summary field is set to “New ticket from Slack”.

Question: Is it possible to have Zap read the context of the Slack message or ideally that entire Slack thread, then generate a Jira ticket Summary?

Hi @avomd

Try these Zap steps:

  1. Trigger: Slack - new Reaction Added
  2. Action: Slack - Retrieve Thread Messages
  3. Action: AI by Zapier - Analyze and Return Data
    1. Used to create a summary
    2. Help: https://zapier.com/apps/ai/integrations#help
  4. Action: Jira - Create Ticket

Hey @avomd,

Yeah it’s possible. Try this workflow-

  • New Reaction Added trigger
  • Retrieve Thread Messages action
  • Create Issue action

This is a sample workflow and you may need to add extra steps as workflows are usually personalized to user’s needs. Hope it helps!
