How to connect a Square sandbox environment


I’m testing some Square integrations but don’t understand how I’m supposed to connect a Square sandbox environment. With other connected apps I’ve used (Salesforce, Stripe, etc.) there is an option when adding a new connected app, but nothing of the sort comes up for Square. I do have a Square sandbox environment, but it didn’t come with a “user” that I can login with, at least not that I can figure out.

Apologies if this is more of a Square question; it’s just not a platform I’m super familiar with.

Welcome to the Community.

 

To connect Square's sandbox environment to Zapier, create a Square Developer Account and a Sandbox Test Account via the Square Developer Dashboard. Then, retrieve your Sandbox Access Token from your application's "Credentials" tab. In Zapier, start creating your Zap, select Square, and click "Connect an Account." Instead of signing in usually, choose "Use a Personal Access Token," enter your Sandbox Access Token, and click "Yes, Continue." This will connect your Square Sandbox to Zapier, allowing you to proceed with your Zap setup.

Hey ​@JammerS ,

I appreciate the reply, but I’m still not sure I understand the process. In Zapier, when I attempt to connect a Square account I receive the following modal:

I’m not sure where I should be using the “Personal Access Token.” I can find my Square Sandbox credentials fine, but I’m not sure where to plug them into Zapier.

To connect Square to Zapier using a Personal Access Token, retrieve it from your Square Dashboard under "My Apps." In Zapier, connect a new Square account, enter the token, and test the connection to ensure it's working properly.

@JammerS I understand how to retrieve the token from Square, but there is no place to enter the token in Zapier. When I go to connect a new Square account, that option does not appear.

I’m so sorry for the confusion here. The current Square integration doesn’t support the Sandbox environment at the moment. I’d recommend reaching out to our Support Team to create a feature request on your behalf.
