We have a use case to trigger Coda table inserts from Slack (using a slack reaction to a message and inserting).

What I want to do is to try to build a generic ZAP which others can leverage and self serve setting this up so I do not need to manage/create unique Zaps for every user who might be interested in using this.

Is there a way to build a generic skeleton that can easily be extended out in this manner so the user would need to enter

  • Which reaction in Slack?
  • Which user in Slack?
  • Which Coda doc/table to insert to?
  • Slack content mapping to the table?

but the rest would be pre configured for them
Is this possible?

Hi @doug.hubbard

Are you trying to share the Zap template inside your Zapier account with other members OR outside your Zapier account with external users.

I am trying to share with other users in my company, hopefully without them needing to understand and setup Zapier (so within my Slack and Coda accounts)
Does Zapier support that level of enterprise integration?

Create a TEMPLATE Zap, then duplicate, and configure the necessary Zap step fields.

Got it, so every enterprise user has to have their own independent Zap tied to their details

@doug.hubbard

Depends…

  • Is each Zap being created/configured by a specific user (meaning user has access to Zapier) OR is a Zapier admin creating Zaps on behalf of users for specific users (meaning user never needs to go into Zapier)?
  • Each Zap step has an app account connection, so that may impact the requirements of how the Zap steps are setup.
  • The requirements for the Coda doc/table and content mapping may impact the Zap step design and logic.

Thanks, what you outline is part of what I am asking
trying to follow best practices for sustainable Zaps :-)

I need to discuss with our team how we want to leverage Zapier in more depth, I think you have given me the details I need to have that conversation productively.

thank you
