How to Automate Transcription of Kixie Call Recordings Without Otter.ai API?

Hi Zapier Community,

I'm looking to automate the transcription of call recordings from Kixie. Initially, I wanted to use Otter.ai, but they don't have an open API. Can anyone suggest alternative transcription services that integrate well with Zapier for this purpose? Ideally, I'd like the workflow to be:

  1. Trigger: Call ends in Kixie.
  2. Action: Send call recording URL for transcription.

Any recommendations or detailed steps would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi @New Zapper

Try OpenAI: https://zapier.com/apps/openai/integrations#triggers-and-actions

Hi @New Zapper, welcome to the Community! 🎉

I  had a look at the available triggers for the Kixie app and I’m couldn’t see any triggers available. There’s an existing feature request for a “New Logged Call” trigger to be added to the Kixie app. I’m not super familiar with Kixie, would a “logged” call be what you’re looking to trigger a Zap on or are not all calls logged? If that’s the sort of trigger you’re after here please let me know and I’ll get your vote added to the feature request for that.

If that’s not the type of trigger you’re after here, can you contact our Support team to submit a new feature request for a “Call Ended” trigger to be added to the Kixie app? You can do that here: https://zapier.com/app/get-help
In the meantime, if you’re able to get the call recordings uploaded to a file storage app like Dropbox or Google Drive for example, you could trigger a Zap when the recording file is added and then pass it over to a Create Transcription (OpenAI) action as Troy suggested.

Do you think that approach could work?
