How to automate task creation in Salesforce using Zapier and Google Sheets

Hi,

I am completely new to Zapier and trying to create a task in my salesforce (Practifi) environment. In testing it worked for one new task. I published the zap and tired to create 10 new tasks(records). The trigger is a column/cell in Google Sheets. The idea being when I fill in that cell it will push the task creation through Zapier. My spreadsheet was filled in with all the info we need to get to each task. I ideally would like to put an “X” in the trigger column and once that is filled in with “X” it will then zap!

Any guidance will be much appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi @zapnewuser

For us to have more info, post these screenshots:

  • how your Zap steps are outlined
  • how your Zap steps are configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible
  • the top 3 rows of your GSheet worksheet being used

Hi @Troy Tessalone - I am going to just begin again from scratch.

The zap is stuck trying to find the record it says error and i have tried a few ways. One question, I will have up to 20 rows that will be tasks that need to be created.

Ideally the zap will find the correct HH either by name or ID. Create a task with a title/subject, description, status, due date, and assigned to a team member. We will have filled out this google sheet and once everything is updated I want to update the “push to salesforce” column and have that be the trigger to push all the tasks into the hh record. Which I understand may require a filter logic?

Is this kind of thing out of the bounds of what zap can do?

@zapnewuser

Try these Zap steps:

  1. Trigger: GSheets - New or Updated Row
  2. Action: Filter
    1. Check that “Push to Salesforce” is not empty
  3. Action: Salesforce - Create Record

If you are still having issues, for us to have more info, post these screenshots:

  • how your Zap steps are outlined
  • how your Zap steps are configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible
  • any encountered errors when testing Zap steps

Hi there, @zapnewuser 👋

How did you get on with the trigger and actions Troy suggested for this? Did they do the trick?

Want to make sure you’re Zap is up and running, so let us know how it went. Happy to lend a hand if you got stuck at all! 🙂
