How to automate sub-task creation in Jira Cloud Software with correct parent task?

Hi!

I am trying to create an automation to:

  1. Create new issue (type task) on Jira Cloud: ✅
  2. Create a new issue (sub-task) associated to the Task created before: ❗
    1. Here, my problem is that the field *Parent* is mandatory. When I select a parent (ex: Task-AB), every time that I create a new task (ev: Task-XZ), a subtask is created and associated to Task-AB.

I am not sure if the Parent configuration should be done via Jira (since it's not added as a field to the form) neither to my workflow;

Any help on how to proceed would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Karla.-

Hi @karla_garcia

Try mapping the Parent Task “ID” variable from a previous step using the ‘Custom’ option.

Hi @karla_garcia, welcome to the Community! 🎉

Did you manage to solve this by mapping the Parent Task’s ID from the previous action step as Troy suggested?

Keen to ensure you’re all set so please let us know whether you got stuck on that or have any further questions at all! 🙂
