Hey there,

I have a Zap working to send an email when a task in my Asana project is completed. However I’m trying to add in a filter so the email is only sent once the task has been approved.

Today I have a workflow that adds an assigned sub-task to review the task. If the task is approved, the subtask is marked as completed. I’m aware there is an approval workflow I could be using and am happy to switch to that if needed.

Does anyone know how I would setup the Zapier filter to only send a completed task email when the “approval” subtask is completed (or the approval workflow shows the task is approved)?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @skynet1

Good question.

Zapier doesn’t appear to trigger for completed/updated Subtasks, so you’ll have to seek a workaround.

Thanks for the quick reply Troy. I’m not trying to have it trigger based on a subtask… I was hoping to add a 48 hour delay and then have the filter check if the subtask is marked as complete (or the original task was approved).

@skynet1

Delay app: https://zapier.com/help/create/customize/add-delays-to-zaps#delay-after-queue

You may have to use the Asana API to get the Subtasks for a Task: https://developers.asana.com/reference/createsubtaskfortask

App APIs can be used in Zaps with the Webhooks app as an action step: https://zapier.com/apps/webhook/help

Hi there @skynet1 - checkin in with you and just seeing if you’re still getting stuck in your Zap or if you have any other questions? Either way let us know!

Best,
