For some context:

My goal is to have the leads that come in through different channels such as LinkedIn and Mailchimp automatically put into the CRM system (Simplicate) by means of workflows from Zapier.

I've gotten to the point where when a lead comes in, it goes through a 'zap' where the selection is made whether the company name is already in the system or not. If the company is not in the CRM system, the company and the contact person will be added to the system. If the company is listed, the contact person will be added to the company that is already in the system.

Here is my problem:
We also receive leads from LinkedIn and Mailchimp where the company name is written slightly differently than the company name that is already in our system. For example, a lead comes in from someone who works at the company 'Nike Inc.', but in our CRM system the company is listed under the name 'Nike'. In that case, a completely new company is added to the system, even if they are the same companies. This should not be the case.

My question:

Is there a easy way that Zapier can normalize company names to the name that is already in the CRM system? And if so, how do I do this? Maybe there are other solutions or am I missing something. Please let me know.

Thank you!

Hi @Twan Wolters

That’s going to be tough.

Generally that type of standardization would be done manually with a human to review.

Sort of like human names.

e.g. Are “Joe Doe” and “Joey Doe” the same person or different people.

You can look into creating a manual approval flow: https://zapier.com/blog/create-approvals-table-with-zapier-tables/
