how to import files (from dropbox) into onenote as file contents - default mode just imports a link to the file, i need the file contents in onenote to read it and play the mp3 file i am importing. onenote supports both formats - thanks!

Hi @bradwww

Toggle on the Dropbox trigger setting to include file contents.

dropbox set to yes - include file contents - thanks.

@bradwww

If you still need help, post screenshots with how your Zap steps are configured to give us more context.

thanks, is this what you mean? i just followed the steps it said, can’t see anything related to file contents on the onenote side.

thanks!

@bradwww

The variables you’ve mapped are not the file contents:

  • File Name
  • Direct Media Link

You would want to map the File Text, but there can be limitations depending on the file type and size.

thanks! made some progress - now text contents are in the note - now i just need to figure out mp3 files - when i import the file it shows up as “Binary contents unsupported” - i know onenote supports mp3 files inside notes - so ihow do i adjust the filters to make this batch import work? thanks!

@bradwww

I don’t think you can get the file contents for an audio file via the ‘File Text’ field.

You may have to try using a different OneNote action.

can’t get it to work, any other ideas? thanks!

@bradwww

We would need to see updated screenshots with how your Zap steps are configured to have context.

is there a smipler way? the layout of zaps is really strange and i can’t tell if i am getting all of it - is there a way to dump the code for a zap to text file or html or something so i’m sure i have it all? thanks.

@bradwww

You could record and share a Loom.com video for context about how your Zap steps are configured.

let me know if this is what you need - so many windows and scrolling in zapier builder - i can’t tell if i got it all. thanks!

@bradwww

Something to check is whether the direct media link is a publicly accessible link to the file.

You can check by copy/paste into a new/different private browser to see if it initiates a download of the file.
