Hi. :)

I’m trying to pull the tag name from Asana.  It is coming through with a heap of code.  How do I remove this and just keep the text in the tag itself?  (red writing below)

Example.

This is what is coming accross = gid: 120863502713261<br />name: WO#2225807<br />resource_type: tag

Thanks in advance.

Hi there @Haydn Drake,

You can use the Formatter - Text - Extract Pattern function to extract the tag. You can use this REGEX code in the “Pattern” field: name:\s*(:^<]+)

Kindly give it a try and let me know how it goes? I'll keep an eye out for your response!

Hi @Haydn Drake,

We just wanted to see how everything is going with your Zap. Did Ken’s recommendation get the job done? Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance with your Zap. We're glad to address any concerns and assist you.

We're looking forward to your response.

Hi all.  Appreciate the assistance.

I am not yet succeeding…. :(  Have I got it in the right place? Or should it be the last step?  Also the output keeps indicating false.  Do I type the text out as it is written?  Or pull the “tag” field from the asana integration?

Hi @Haydn Drake,

The formatter step will be on the 2nd step of the Zap. The mapping on the “Input” field is correct where you should map the Tags data from the trigger step. The only thing that I’m seeing that’s incomplete is the “Pattern” field. You will need to input the REGEX pattern that I have provided on my previous reply there. Like so:

Additionally, since the Tags field is returning “No data” you will need to load in a new sample data from the trigger step by clicking on the “Find new records” button.

Kindly give it a try and let me know how it goes? I'll keep an eye out for your response!

Hi @ken.a

Thanks for your persistence here.  I feel we are close.  I still can’t get it.  I have push new records to asana which 100% have a tag.  Yet the tag field in the formatter etc still says no data…..

Any advice?

Hi @Haydn Drake

You may need to change your Zap trigger test example to one that has values for the Tags variable.

From the screenshot, the current selected example from Zap step 1 has “No Data” for the Tags variable.

Hi @Troy Tessalone .

I have tried several times (and again just now), and each time it keeps saying no data. Is there anything else I can try?

@Haydn Drake

Try turning the Zap ON and testing live, then check the Zap Runs history details to see the DATA IN/OUT for each step to help you trace the data flow and troubleshoot: https://zapier.com/app/history/
