Hey there, welcome to Zapier!
That sounds doable to me - but it would still depend on where you wanted to store this information. So long as it’s an app available on Zapier and has an action that’ll allow you to deposit information, you should be set to go.
GoCardless has a New Mandate Created trigger - you can check all the triggers here to see if there’s other options that could help too: https://zapier.com/apps/gocardless/integrations#triggers-and-actions
If you’re new to Zapier, here’s a good guide on setting up triggers and actions: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496288188429-Set-up-your-Zap-trigger and https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496257774221-Set-up-your-Zap-action#h_01H9RFMADBFNRMAC3MD802ME42
hi Ben,
Ive seen the mandate created which is perfect, i think the bit i cannot get my head around is how do i link that mandate to a form with only one submission ? Then save the data.
Still a bit alien this to me and im just a volunteer for a charity ran club so learning best i can
Would it be suitable to say:
1:direct customer to gocardless mandate
2: set zap to trigger on new mandate
3: action add new row google sheet
4: trigger new row on google sheet
5: action pass to website form with mandate id name etc
??? is that the kind of thing or have i missed the point completely
Hi @NorthernFolk,
You're on the right track with your Zapier automation flow! Here's a slightly refined version of your steps:
- Direct the customer to GoCardless to set up a new mandate.
- Set a Zap to trigger when a new mandate is created in GoCardless.
- As an action, configure the Zap to add a new row to a specific Google Sheet, populating it with the mandate details.
- Set up another Zap that triggers when a new row (the one created above) is added to the Google Sheet.
- Send the mandate details to your website form as an action for this second Zap.
Remember, each Zap starts with a trigger (an event in one app that starts the Zap) and ends with an action (an event that the Zap performs in another app). Make sure the information you want is being passed correctly at each step.
Please note that the exact setup might vary depending on the specifics of your GoCardless, Google Sheets, and website form configurations. Feel free to ask if you have any more detailed questions or run into any issues.
