I am trying to setup a 2 step automation, upon a trigger (new or updated record in Airtable) to create a folder in SharePoint, and copy a file from Airtable record into newly created SharePoint folder.

Is this possible?

Hi @Investible

Good question.

Try asking AI to outline the Zap steps: https://zapier.com/app/dashboard

Hi @Investible,

Welcome to the Community! 🎉

I wouldn’t anticipate that being a problem! Here is how I see the Zap for the workflow that you have in mind:

  1. Trigger: Airtable - New Record OR New or Updated Record
  2. Action: Microsoft SharePoint - Create Folder
  3. Action: Microsoft SharePoint - Upload File

I hope this information is helpful for you! If you have any more questions or if there's anything else you'd like to know about the suggested workflow, please don't hesitate to ask. Also, we have some suggested workflows for Airtable and Microsoft SharePoint that you might find interesting. Feel free to check them out on our integrations page: Zapier SharePoint and Airtable Integrations

That’s the workflow I’m following. I’ve been able to get it to:

  • create a folder in SharePoint upon Airtable trigger (new/updated record)
  • upload a file from the new/updated Airtable record into a root folder

but the missing step is to get the automation to upload the file into the newly created folder in SharePoint. This is where it keeps erroring out.

Could I DM you a screenshot of the error?

@Investible

Please post detailed screenshots with how your Zap steps are configured to give us more context.

Hi @Investible

Good question.

I tried this, but it is telling me to use ClickUp, Citrix, Salesforce etc… Zapier has a native Airtable>SharePoint integration, so it shouldn’t have to use these other apps and connections? Or is my prompt not good enough:

@Investible

From step 2, you likely need to Folder ID from or the Folder path.

You can check the expected value by looking at the dropdown list of options.

The expected value is the smaller gray font value.

LEGENDARY. It’s up and running - creates new folder and copies file from Airtable record into newly created folder.

Huge thanks @Troy Tessalone
