I have a zap that creates a google drive based on adding a tag in my CRM (active campaign.) The folder is named based on a field in my crm. That part of the zap works.

But for the 2nd part of the zap, I want it to add a google document template to the recently created folder, that was named based on a field in the CRM. The problem is, in my zap, I can have it create the template document, but it wants to know what “folder for new doc” it should go in, which I want to be the same as the folder it just created in step one of the zap, but it won’t have a name until the first part of the zap happens.

I don’t see an option for the output folder to be the folder that was just created in the prior step. Is there a way to make the “folder for new doc” the same as the folder just created in the prior step of the zap?

Hi @rschechter27

For Folder field, make sure to map the ID of Folder from the previous Zap step.

If you need more help, post screenshots showing how your Zap steps are outlined and configured in the CONFIGURE tab while in EDIT mode so we can see the field mappings and field types.

Thanks - that worked. Now I’m having the problem of trying to add a step for google drive to create a shortcut but it won’t locate any of my docs - even though google drive is connect via the prior steps sucessfully!

@rschechter27

Try the same concept…

Use the […] button to change to “Custom” mode, then map the ID of the File from Zap step 3.

When in doubt, test it out.

It’s a different shortcut I’m trying to create - not the file from zap 3 (got that to work). We have another file in our google drive I want it to create a shortcut too - but that shortcut isn’t coming up.

Hey there @rschechter27 👋 Were you able to get the correct file selected?

If not, perhaps you could use a Find a File (Google Drive) action to first locate the file. Then, in the File field on that Create Shortcut action, you’d use the same process of selecting the file's ID (from the Find a File action) to select the relevant file to generate the shortcut for.

Let us know how it goes, want to make sure you’re all set! 🙂
