Hey Brandon! Do you need a customer ID so that you can use it in the Salesforce action? For example, if you are trying to update a customer in Salesforce it will ask you for an ID, which you would want to locate using a Find Record in Salesforce action.
If this isn’t the case, can you tell us a bit more about your desired workflow? Are you hoping to store the SamCart ID into a Salesforce field?
Hi Mary, thanks for getting back to me!
In my workflow, I want a product purchase on SamCart to trigger a Zap that updates a customer record field in Salesforce. Specifically, it will update fields like lifetime value, but first, I need to accurately find the correct customer row to update.
Since the "Find Record" action in Salesforce requires a unique identifier for each customer, I’d like to use the customer ID from SamCart as a universal identifier throughout my workflow and store it in Salesforce. However, it seems that the "New Order" trigger in SamCart doesn’t include the customer ID, which is causing an issue. I would like to avoid using the email field as the unique identifier since it still can have ambiguity.
Thanks
Hi @Brandon08253
Why are you opposed to using email addresses, which are unique values, as the lookup value for the Customer in Salesforce?
For us to have more info, can you post the data points returned from the SamCart Zap trigger step that you are using so we can check if the Customer ID is present.
Hi @Brandon08253,
We just wanted to see how everything is going with your Zap. Did Troy's recommendation get the job done? Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance with your Zap. We're glad to address any concerns and assist you.
We're looking forward to your response.
Hi JammerS and Troy, appreciate the responses
I wanted to grab with customer ID because my initial dataset that I exported directly from Samcart included both customer ID and email and I wanted the zap to be able to fill out both columns while using an standard ID to uniquely identify a customer.
I wasn’t able to get the customer ID as it seems it’s not available in the trigger. I haven’t completed the zap yet but I plan to use Troy’s suggestion and use email since it is also unique to solve the issue.
Hi @Brandon08253,
It looks like the Customer ID from the “New Order” trigger in SamCart is not available. I would agree with Troy to use the email address instead since it is a unique data. If you want to use the Customer ID I would recommend reaching out to our Support Team to create a feature request on your behalf to return the Customer ID in the “New Order” trigger.

Hopefully, this helps.
