Hello Zapier Community,
I’m working on a project to help my mother’s home health aide log daily health observations using Alexa. My goal is to have Alexa capture health data (like blood pressure, symptoms, appetite, etc.) and automatically save these entries to a Google Sheet. I’m running into several issues and would appreciate any guidance!
Here’s what I’ve set up so far:
- Alexa Skill: I have Alexa configured to take notes or reminders when the health aide speaks phrases like, “Alexa, take a note: Blood pressure was 120/80.”
- Zapier Workflow: I’m trying to create a Zap that takes these Alexa notes and transfers the information to specific columns in a Google Sheet, with columns like Date, Health Observation, and Additional Notes.
The Issues I’m Facing:
- Inconsistent Data Capture: Sometimes Alexa doesn’t capture the notes as expected, especially if the phrases vary slightly. Are there any recommended formats or tips for phrasing Alexa commands that work best with Zapier?
- Mapping Data in Google Sheets: I’m having trouble ensuring that each part of the Alexa note (e.g., date, observation, additional notes) goes to the correct column in Google Sheets.
- Error Messages: Occasionally, I receive error messages like “Oops, Alexa is having trouble accessing your skill.” I’m not sure if this is related to Zapier or Alexa’s configuration.
- User-Friendly Setup: Since English isn’t the first language for the health aide, I want to keep the Alexa commands as simple as possible. Are there best practices or simpler command structures that work reliably?
My End Goal:
I want a system where the health aide can verbally record health updates through Alexa, and the data will automatically flow into Google Sheets as a continuous log. I’m open to alternative suggestions if this setup isn’t feasible, and I’d appreciate any advice on best practices, troubleshooting tips, or recommended Zaps!
Thank you all in advance for your help—I look forward to any tips or recommendations you might have!
