Hi there Zapier community,

I have created a google sheet where my team (approx. 12 people) can enter their data (incl. their name, email address, customer contacts, etc.)

The zap is set so that I will receive an email once they update or add a new column.

My problem is that those emails show my Gmail address being the sender instead of the actual team member who updated the google sheet.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to fix that problem? Thank you very much for any tips. Best wishes, Stefanie

Hi @Stefanie

Good question.

The From Email will be the email account from which the email is sent which depends on which Gmail connection is being used in the Zap as authenticated here: https://zapier.com/app/connections

@Stefanie

If you used Airtable instead, that can track the user who made the edit in a Last Modified By field.

That field tracks the Email, Name, ID of the User, which could be used to set the FROM NAME (not the FROM EMAIL), which could help you track the changes.

Hey @Stefanie! Were you able to give Troy’s recommendations a try?

@Troy Tessalone

Thank you Troy for both of your replies. In the end, I added some additional sender/user info in my google sheet and the SDR name in the Subject line. Then I set up the zap with a new generic Gmail address. Thank you for pointing me in that direction. Stefanie

Awesome solution, @Stefanie!

Thanks for swinging back around to update the thread on your success! 🧡
