I’m building a zap that should be finding a Clio matter by searching a specific custom field for a case number extracted from an email. It works if I manually enter the case number (24XX-00000, for example) into the step and test it (meaning it finds the correct matter).  However, if I try to use the output produced by the step that extracts the case number, it can’t find any result. The output from the step that extracts the case number is identical to the case number I’m entering manually.

Thoughts?

It was because an earlier step had left a space before the case number.

It seemed to be, anyway. But it either wasn’t or I can’t figure out how to get rid of the space.

Hi @JLO,

Welcome to the Community.

If Zapier isn't correctly using the dynamic output from a previous step, check the formatting of the extracted case number to ensure it matches the required format for the Clio matter search. You can use Zapier's Formatter tool to adjust the output if needed. Test the production in another action to see if it works, and consider adding a delay step between the extraction and search actions. If these steps don't resolve the issue, try recreating the Zap.
