I’m curious if there is a way to move the task to a certain step through an error handler? Or basically skip the next X number of steps?

Here is a visual:

Thanks in advance!

Hi @bret.knight87

That is not currently possible.

You can duplicate the path and move it to the ERROR path.

Other options:

  • Convert the Path to be a separate Zap and chain Zaps together using Webhooks
  • Convert the Paths to Sub-Zaps

I second bret.knight87 in the interest for a feature like this.

I have several actions I’d like to skip via the error handler. I’ve chosen to allow all errors to be skipped rather than hack some way to substitute missing data when the zap is triggered. The alternative is to build a tree of some 60 paths that Zapier doesn’t have the bandwidth for.

Other approaches to making dynamic Zaps beyond paths include these:

Hey folks! 👋

@bret.knight87 and @Robop - I just came across this and wanted to let you both know that I’ve passed your comments here over to the Product Team for consideration. I can’t make any promises around when the ability for an error handler to skip certain actions might be added but we’ll definitely let you all know if it is!

In the meantime, as Troy said you could try one of the following approaches:

  • Duplicate the path/desired actions and move them into the Error path.
  • Move the path/desired actions over to a separate Zap and chain Zaps together using Webhooks:
  • Use Sub-Zaps to carry actions that are applicable to both errored and non-errored paths.

If you run into any issues when trying the above approaches do let us know and we’ll be happy to assist further! 🙂
