Question

"Email required" but that's what I want the automation to pull in

Hi, so I am setting up an integration between Wave and Mailerlite. When a customer pays an invoice for SEO, I want them to be added to a specific group within Mailerlite.

I set up everything but it says email is required. That’s what I want to be pulled in from Wave into Mailerlite. Otherwise, if I select the email, it will only pull in customer info associated with that one specific email. So I want to leave the email blank but it won’t let me move on to the next step

Am I making sense? Here’s a pic:

Hi @aspiringace

You should map the email variable from the Zap trigger step (Wave) to the Email field in the action step (MailerLite) using the ‘Custom’ option to make the field value dynamic.

Help article: https://zapier.com/help/create/basics/set-up-your-zap-action

Then you can change your trigger test data to see how different data would be mapped across Zap steps: https://zapier.com/help/create/basics/change-the-test-data-in-your-zap-trigger

That is not what mine looks like at all. No custom option

@aspiringace

Try these:

Expand this section to see the available variables from the trigger step (Wave)

Search for @ to return variables with values that are an email address.

It says new customer or new invoice and doesn’t give me an option to insert data or choose custom

@aspiringace

Did you manually test each Zap step?

Yup. Still doesn’t change that email is required in the action step.

Did you try these to map the variable for email address from the Zap trigger step?

You asked this already. Here was my answer: It says new customer or new invoice and doesn’t give me an option to insert data or choose custom

@aspiringace

This is what I see after testing the Zap trigger manually, and searching for and mapping data points from Wave to MailerLite, give that a try...

@aspiringace

To clarify, for the Zap trigger you need to select New Invoice, then manually test that step to bring back sample data to use to configure your remaining Zap steps: https://zapier.com/help/create/basics/change-the-test-data-in-your-zap-trigger

Yes but then it only sends over information that is associated with that specific email.

@aspiringace

When a variable is mapped it means that data point is dynamic.

Try changing the trigger test data selected example, then look at the value that shows for the mapped email variable: https://zapier.com/help/create/basics/change-the-test-data-in-your-zap-trigger

Also, you can turn the Zap ON and test live, then check your Zap Runs to see the DATA IN/OUT for each Zap step based on how you have the variables mapped between steps: https://zapier.com/app/history/
