Question

Dynamically assign values/variables inside a post message?

Looking for help and had to simplify posting from Salesforce in the slack using paths.

I currently have a zap that splits into three different paths based on a select field on a sales force record. Each path posts the exact same message into slack with the only exception being one line of text which reflects what that selection field is on the record. Is there a way to combine this into one and perhaps assign the message with the correct line of text as a variable?

The reason I ask is there's a follow-up question where I need to tag a user in slack there's the corresponding owner of the Salesforce record. This could be one of 15 different people. Combined with the problem from above, I would have 45 different paths which is crazy.

Can anyone offer a suggestion?

Hi @LPI

Yes.

Try using this Zap action: Formatter > Utilities > Lookup Table

Formatter help: https://zapier.com/apps/formatter/help

That will allow you to make the Zap dynamic.

Hey there, @LPI! 👋

How did you get on with Troy’s suggestion of using a lookup table—did that work as hoped?

Let us know whether you need any further help! 🙂
