Dynamic column selection in Update Spreadsheet Row (Google Sheets)

I keep track of dues payments for our rugby club manually in a Google Sheets workbook.  I have columns headed JAN, FEB, etc and when I  get notice of a dues payment I enter the amount paid in the column for the appropriate month.

I have a Zap that parses date, payer’s name and amount paid from a Gmail generated from Square.  Is there a way to direct Update Spreadsheet Row to the appropriate column based on the content of the date field?

Thank you.

Hi there @tslyons! 👋

Perhaps you could try using paths for this instead? Each path could check whether the date contains a certain month then a Update Spreadsheet Row action inside each path could be set to update the value in the relevant month column. If you haven’t worked with Paths in Zaps before, I’d recommend checking out our Add branching logic to Zaps with paths guide to learn more.

If you get stuck on that or have any follow-up questions, just let us know! 🙂
