Deduplication, how does Zapier identify new records

Can someone please explain this to me:

When polling... "Zapier automatically deduplicates and sorts for the newest data from the API."

How does that work exactly?

Hi @Fondatic

Check out this help article: https://zapier.com/help/create/basics/data-deduplication-in-zaps

Thanks, I’ve read the article, but it still wasn’t clear how they know an item is new or not. Fortunately, I found the answer while trying to pass data without id and got the following error message:
Invalid API Response: - Got a result missing the "id" property ({"name":"jean","age":22})

Nowhere I’ve seen in the docs/wizard that an id field is required. Having known that, I would have guessed they kept a record of the ids to know whether an item is new or not.

Check out this Zapier Platform article for developers related to the “id” field and deduping: https://platform.zapier.com/legacy/dedupe
