Conversation ID: use cases and limitations?

In the new ChatGPT Assistant action:

  • Am I correct in saying this conversation ID is all we need to ensure the AI will remember all past queries with that ID and be able to continue a convo over a period of time?
  • Are there issues with using this (eg is there a limit to how long it can tracks convo, how many convo IDs our Assistant can have, etc)?

 

For example

  • If the convo ID is the user’s email address, does that mean it can track conversation histories with all those emails? e.g. if a user emails many months later, will it still have track of that convo because of the Conversation ID?
  • Is there a limit at which it will stop tracking conversations (e.g. 500 users have email it, or a user emails it after one year)?
