I receive regular emails containing contact information that needs to be added to ACT! as a new contact record. It is my understanding the Zapier could assist in automating this process. Is there someone that has done this successfully that can share how I should set this up?

Yes you can do this!
- Use Email Parser by Zapier and try to find Phonenumbers and Emails
- If you need a more sophisticated solution we can embed this API in js/python https://evercontact.com
- Validate Emails and Phone with Text Formater by Zapier
- You can Split the Name of the sender to extract first and lastname with that App too.
- Add ACT as last step
