I have a zap that puts a cognito entry into a google sheet as the first available row. Is there a way to have the create a row at the end and insert there?

Hi @aboveandbeyond

Make sure there are no empty rows in the GSheets and the Zap will always add a new row at the bottom.

Thank you, @Troy Tessalone. Is there not a way to add a row to the bottom of the sheet if there are empty rows? Since many people will be working in the sheet at once, I’d like the new entries to go at the very bottom of the sheet, with many blank rows in between.

Thanks!

Check out this help article: https://zapier.com/help/doc/how-to-set-up-your-google-spreadsheet-to-work-with-zapier

To use Google Sheets with Zapier you need to set up your spreadsheet in a very specific way.
If you don't set up your spreadsheet this way, you're likely going to have problems.
Pay close attention.

These are the things you'll need from your Google Sheet to optimize it for use with a Zap:

  • The first row must have titles for any column headers you want to be able to see in your Zap.
  • The second row must have content for any columns you want to be able to see in your Zap.
  • There can be no completely blank rows before the end of your spreadsheet.

As an alternative, perhaps check out Airtable: https://zapier.com/apps/airtable/integrations

Hi @aboveandbeyond!

As Troy pointed out, if you’re going to have people interacting with the Google Sheet that will have data added to it, that’s really not going to be ideal at all. Something like Airtable, which he mentioned, would be a better solution for what you described.

Another possible option is to look into using Google Sheets’ IMPORTRANGE function to bring the data from that sheet into another one, where others could manipulate freely. But if those same folks are modifying data, then something like Airtable is definitely better option.

@aboveandbeyond

Were you able to get this squared away based on the previous suggestions?

Please let us know, thanks.
