When setting up automated reviews it looks like you have to drill down to an individual location in GMB. We have 1000+ locations in GMB, separated in groups by state. I can choose the group, but it appears I have to also drill down to the location. Is it possible to set up a zap and choose an entire group rather than having to set up a zap one-by-one for each location?

Hi @Madalyn, welcome to the Community! 👋

I can see you also reach out to our Support team about this and it appears that it’s not possible to choose an entire group, you’d need to pick a specific location. so they’ve added your vote to a feature request for the ability to trigger a Zap from all locations. Not sure if you’ve had a chance to see their reply yet but thought I’d share the main part from their response here in case it’s helpful to you or anyone coming across this thread in future:

“From what you've mentioned about your need to set up a zap for your entire Google My Business (GMB) account or by group ID, I understand how it would be beneficial to automate Google review responses across multiple locations. As it turns out, at the moment, Zapier requires the selection of a specific location when setting up a zap with GMB.

However, I see the value in your suggestion to have a more flexible setup that allows for automation across an entire GMB account or by group ID. I've gone ahead and added your request to our list of feature requests. This allows our developers to understand the needs of our users and shape the platform accordingly. You should expect an email once the feature is implemented, but please note that we can't provide a guarantee or ETA for feature requests.

Next Steps:
In the meantime, you would need to set up a zap for each individual location. I understand that this might not be the most efficient method, but currently, it's the way to automate responses in GMB using Zapier.”

That said, do you get email notifications from Google Business Profile when a new review is added?

If so, and the email notifications contain the information you’d need to use in the Zap then perhaps you could set up forwarding rule in your email account to send those over to an app like Email Parser. Email Parser would be able to trigger a Zap when it receives the emails and pass a long the information it extracts from the email to the subsequent actions in the Zap. You can learn more about how to set up Email Parser here: Trigger Zaps from new parsed emails

Hope that helps. If you run into any further issues or questions in the meantime do let us know! 🙂

For anyone that comes across this and wants their vote added to that Feature request too, just let us know in the comments below and we’ll be happy to add your vote.
