Hello!

Is it possible to send automated emails via an alias email address? 

In the “Account” section, I can only connect my main email address. (please see screenshot attached)

Check the options in the From field dropdown list.

Have you configured the email aliases in Gmail?

I sure did, I even have two aliases?

Does it work on your side?

Are those configured in Gmail > Settings > Accounts > Send Mail As?
