Hi @Industryus
Good question.
Some actions require a certain level of permissions to use them.
For example, the "Respond to Time Off Request" action can only be used by users who are able to approve time off requests.
Here are some helpful articles from BambooHR that describe how to configure permissions:
Creating Custom Access Levels: https://help.bamboohr.com/hc/en-us/articles/222006947
Managing Access Levels: https://help.bamboohr.com/hc/en-us/articles/216834217
Creating non-employee users: https://help.bamboohr.com/hc/en-us/articles/115009157147-Hints-Tips-Create-Non-Employee-Users
Hi Troy, thank you. I will check this out, but not sure if this is the issue as my own BambooHR account is set at Administrator level. Perhaps the issue is on the Quickbooks access level end.
Have you set up this particular trigger and action before? I am getting such conflicting information from Zapier. I was forwarded a video showing the available actions and triggers and then I have had other help desk people say that the actions and triggers in the video are not supported!!
Hi Troy
I am trying to create the following:
New employee
New Time Off
New Time Off Request
And the actions are:
Create employee
Respond to time off request
Find or create employee
update employee (I wish to send a changed address or changed salary to QBO).
find employee
However, when I go to select the action, the only ones I can see relate to customers.
Thanks
@Industryus
Might be best to open a ticket with Zapier Support for further assistance: https://zapier.com/app/get-help
I suspect it’s due to the following...

Thanks Troy. I have tried raising a ticket but I keep getting the response that QBO does not support these actions, even though all the documentation says it does.
@Industryus
Perhaps you can write out your desired automations into this format for us to have clear context.
Zap Steps
- Trigger: :APP] - -EVENT]
- Action: :APP] - -EVENT]
These are the available BambooHR triggers/actions: https://zapier.com/apps/bamboohr/integrations#triggers-and-actions
These are the available QBO triggers/actions: https://zapier.com/apps/quickbooks/integrations#triggers-and-actions
Keep in mind BambooHR has some limitations:

Thanks so much for reaching out, @Industryus! These are great questions and I hope we can help!
I did some digging and can see you chatted with my teammate in support where they mentioned at the moment, Quickbooks Online (QBO) Zapier integration does not support employee related actions at this time. They were also able to add your vote to feature requests so you’ll be kept in the loop if and when this does become a supported action.
It’s worth mentioning it’s possible QBO has employee features built into their API, which is how you may be manually utilizing them. However our QBO integration does not support them.
You mentioned seeing a video stating you saw these actions are an option in QBO. Do you mind sharing a link to that video? The reason I ask is because we certainly appreciate your frustration and definitely want to dig into any messaging communicating anything to the contrary!
That said here is a workaround that was shared in the community for this question that could be helpful:
