Automatically assign channel manager in Slack?

The only users who can rename channels in Slack are:

This last one must be manually added through Slack’s UI. Has anyone figured out a way to automatically add this permission to users in a channel? I don’t want to make people admins just for this need.

Hey there, @pocaface! Thanks for reaching out in community - great question and appreciate you bringing this up in community.

At this time assigning roles isn't supported via the Zapier Slack app - though I can absolutely see the appeal. It might be worth opening a feature request for this with our support team here.

Full transparency though, while it appears this may be possible through the Slack API it’s only available to those who have Enterprise Grid access - more on that here. So while it’s technically possible, I really don’t imagine this being implemented anytime soon. 😔
