Hey there,

I’ve been repeatedly running into a challenge, hence reaching out if there is a solution out there.

The Following Scenario:

I have an Typeform (Survey Submission) → Excel (Add Row to Table) Automation, that transfers a lot of datapoints into the Excel Table (Lets say 100).

If I know were to add a parameter (lets assume #30, total 101 now) into my Typeform, and I’d like it to be imported in the Excel Table in Column 30, I would currently add a column in my Table and would need to shift the response-mapping (to column) for every single parameter following the inserted column (31-101), which is tideous manual work.

A workaround would of course be adding the new variable at the last column (101) in the automation, but chronology breaks down, which complicates down-stream analysis of survey results.

Is there any solution for this scenario out there?

Best,
Julian

Hi @Sapiens—welcome to the Community! 🎉

What a great question! 🤔 There isn’t currently a way to automatically remap all the existing fields in a Zap action as far as I know. So I’ve passed your post here over to the Product Team to get it on their radar for potential future implementation!

The only alternatives I can think of would be to switch to something more like Zapier Tables instead of Microsoft Excel. Tables works with named fields rather than fixed column positions, so if you add a new question in Typeform, you can just create a matching field in Tables (in the preferred position) and then map it in the Zap—no need to shift all the other existing field mappings.

You can learn more about how to work with Tables here:

Alternatively, you could leave it to a Zapier Agent to handle the mapping of the fields based on the numbers included in the field names. The agent should be able to determine which value needs to be mapped to which field depending on the instructions you outline for it. If you’re like to explore that and are new to Agents, these guides are a great place to start:

Hope that helps to get you pointed in the right direction. Keep us posted on how you get on! 🙂

Hi @Sapiens

You can also use Airtable.

https://zapier.com/apps/airtable/integrations#triggers-and-actions

Airtable has Views, which allow you to sort, filter, group, show/hide fields, and reorder fields.

Hi @Sapiens,

We just wanted to see how everything is going with your Zap. Did Troy and Sam’s recommendation get the job done? Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance with your Zap. We're glad to address any concerns and assist you.

We're looking forward to your response.
