When using “Google Calendar Create Detailed Event” it allows to set Video Conferencing to “Yes”. Why can this not be done when using “Google Calendar Update Event?”

Seems like a major omission by this system. Anybody find a way to work around this? This was a discussion a few months ago but it was never resolved.

Hi @Guy Rahamim

Can you describe your use case where you’d need to have this setting vs initially turning on this feature with the setting during the Event creation?

Might be best to submit a ticket via Zapier Support so they can log your feedback for consideration: https://zapier.com/app/get-help

Hi @Guy Rahamim,

Although it’s not natively available in Zapier - Google Calendar Update Action, you can however get this done using Google Calendar API as they support conference data modification. In order to work with API, you need to use “Webhook by zapier” Or create a custom zapier app as google uses Oauth2.

Our scheduling tool has two-way communication with google calendar but because the appointment is not created by the user the “Auto turn on video conferencing” doesn’t work. Using webhooks I can “Create a Detailed Appointment” and have the video conferencing on but that creates two issues.

One, the appointments are now doubled up, one from the scheduling software that’s mirrored in Google Calendar, and one that’s the new appointment created in Zapier. The second issue is if the appointment is cancelled or moved in the scheduling software, the appointment created in Zapier won’t move/cancel with it.

I was able to create something in Zapier that does all of that but it takes too many tasks and I would have to bump up my account by two levels.

@robschmidt I’ll check out the article and see if that works. Thanks

@Guy Rahamim

What scheduling tool are you using?
e.g. Calendly has the option to include GMeet: https://help.calendly.com/hc/en-us/articles/226766447-Choose-a-meeting-location

We use IntakeQ and I’ve reached out to them but they won’t support it. They have their own video conferencing that they charge a fee, so I don’t think they are motivated to support it.
