Action: Create a Shared Folder - Allow recipient to upload files to a folder. (DropBox)

Objective:
Trigger: WooCommerce order is placed.
Action: A folder is created with the order number and customer name and the folder is shared in a way that will allow them to upload files.

The only Action I saw for Zapier is: Create Shared Link

Dropbox Support Stated:
"Dropbox Shared Links do not allow recipients to upload files for you to see. To see the uploaded files you can either share the folder with them directly, or send them a file request."

In the Zap I setup I only see an option to create a share link for the folder but just like Dropbox support stated, the share link won't allow the recipient to upload files.

How do I get Zapier to create a folder that can be shared with the recipient that will allow them to upload files?

I do not see any action that allows this functionality.

Action I expected on the platform but didn’t find:

Action: Request a file

or

Action: Share Folder

What are my options?

Hi @ArtMedia

Good question.

You can try using a different drive app such as GDrive.

Otherwise, you’ll have to use the Dropbox API: https://www.dropbox.com/developers/documentation/http/documentation#file_requests-create

Using app APIs is possible in Zaps but is an advanced approach.

is there any information on the process of “ Using app APIs in Zaps “?

I was looking at the link you provided: https://www.dropbox.com/developers/documentation/http/documentation#file_requests-create

is this code something I would have to create between the Zapier steps?

Currently looking at the Zapier Videos for more information on this. Haven’t gotten to that part yet, that’s if it is even there.

@ArtMedia

API concepts are standardized along with a few different authentication methods, but every API structure is different, and thus the app’s API documentation needs to be relied on to properly configure API requests.

Is this code written in a Zapier step some-how or is it writing a program independent of Zapier?

App APIs can be used in Zaps with the Webhooks app or a Code step.

Since there are a few related topics regarding this I also wanted to get anyone who may have stumbled across this pointed to the main one here:

In the meantime, I’ll be closing this thread to consolidate the flow of info. We’ll definitely send an email when and if this gets implemented though! I might recommend also subscribing to the linked topic above as we’ll also post an update there too.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts with us! 🙂
