Change Filename when using Email Parser to Airtable

I use Zapier Parser to bring over a PDF attachment and update a record in AirTable.  The issue is it takes the email attachment and gives it a super long filename in AirTable with letters and numbers.  Is there any way to have it be a set filename or custom filename instead?  I tried using Format from Zapier but not having any luck.

Hi @MarkCom

You’d likely have to use the Airtable API to set the File Name for an uploaded attachment.

App APIs can be used in Zaps with the Webhooks app as an action step: https://zapier.com/apps/webhook/help

New attachments only require the url property.
You can optionally pass the filename property to give it a readable name.

I appreciate the response but this is above my level of comprehension.

Consider hiring a Zapier Expert: https://zapier.com/experts

Hey @MarkCom - great question! Looks like this currently isn’t possible with the way the Airtable integration is configured within Zapier. We have a thread with open feature request for this here:

I will go ahead and add your vote for this issue and then close this thread. Should this become possible in the future, we’ll both update the thread (linked above) and send you an email to let you know. 🙂
