Apologies, I’m new to API requests so the below questions may have some obvious answers.

My business creates a large number of documents for signature.  Each document is unique to the client and is first generated using document automation (i.e. an online form and Google Docs).

This variation in the documents means templates are inappropriate.

Equally, the volume means use of the PandaDoc UI to drop in signature fields etc is inefficient.

Is it possible to run an API request through Zapier to ‘Zap’ the document from Google Docs (or more accurately Google Drive) to PandaDoc and have that app send it for signature to the recipient?  Does an API have this functionality?  Perhaps this depends on the particulars of PandaDoc, but I thought I would ask in case the anyone here knows the answer.

Is such a request complex and if so, would you recommend hiring a specialist?  I have only a basic understanding of APIs (as this question suggests).

Any help, much appreciated.

Hi @Christian Mc

Good question.

PandaDoc API: https://developers.pandadoc.com/reference/create-document-from-pdf

Zap action: PandaDoc - API Request

If you need help, consider hiring a Certified Zapier Expert: https://zapier.com/experts/automation-ace

Hey @Troy Tessalone

Thanks for this.  I’m now trying to figure out where I’m going wrong with the API request (picture a blind man in a dark room...) in the Zap.

To anybody reading this thread, I’ve also found the following resources helpful:

https://developers.pandadoc.com/docs/upload-and-send-a-local-pdf  (part of PandaDoc’s API documentation); and

https://zapier.com/resources/guides/apis (Zapier’s guidance note on APIs - it’s short and helpful in explaining the basics if you know nothing about APIs).
